KWE is a joint venture of brown coal mine KWB Konin and Global Wind Energy Poland, a local subsidiary of Israeli Ampal Group.
The projects are to be located on former mine sites in the country’s central region. Under the scheme, the company aims to launch its first wind project in 2015.
The wind farms will most likely be fitted with 2-2.5MW wind turbines, according to company representatives.
Poland has set an installed wind-power target for 2020 of 6.65GW. It currrently has around 1.48GW, according to data from the country’s Energy Regulatory Office (URE).
