The agreement covers wind, solar and bio-energy. A joint-statement said the greatest focus would be on developing Posco's first offshore wind farm in South Korea.
In September, Posco signed an MOU with Doosan Heavy Industries and state utility Korea Electric Power Corp to build a 60MW offshore project off the South Korean coast.
The $230-million project will be built off Jeju Island, which is located off the South Korea's southern coast. Experts suggest the country could generate as much as 15.48GW through offshore wind.
Posco CEO Soung-Sik Cho said: "Joining forces with ECN which has been developing industry friendly green energy technologies will accelerate the efforts of Posco to realize it’s green energy business".
Robert Kleiburg, ECN’s R&D Director said: "Thanks to the collaboration with Posco Power, our expertise and technology will find their way to the market and energy production.
"We are convinced that we can provide Posco with the knowledge and technologies they need for production of renewable energy more efficiently and at lower cost."
