RWE takes Spanish wind assets to 447MW

SPAIN: RWE Innogy has increased its Spanish wind capacity to 447MW with the acquisition of a 47.5% stake in developer Explotaciones Eólicas de Aldehuelas.

Explotaciones Eólicas de Aldehuelas operates the 47.2MW Aldehuelas project in Castile-Léon near the city of Soria. RWE now has a majority share.

The Aldehuelas project consists of 59 Gamesa 800kw turbines.

Speaking about the deal, CFO of RWE Innogy Hans Bünting said: "Due to excellent wind conditions, in particular, the Spanish onshore wind market is one of the most attractive markets in Europe and thus crucial for our growth strategy. The wind farm, in which we now hold a majority share, fits in extremely well with our existing portfolio."
