The report said China has 486 wind farms, located in 29 of China's 31 provinces – the exceptions are Tibet and Guangxi – and a further 13.77GW capacity is under construction.
Wind power generation reached 58.3 billion KWh in the first 10 months of 2011, up 56.9 percent year on year. China's wind power installed capacity has reached 39.24GW.
It is estimated China has about 2,380GW of exploitable capacity on land and 200GW on the sea. After doubling in size during the 11th Five Year Plan period (2006-2010), China has the largest installed capacity of wind power in the world.
In the 12th Five Year Plan period (2011-2015), China aims to generate 190 billion KWh through wind by 2015. This will account for over 3% of the national power generation, said SERC.
