The facility, in Olive Branch, Mississippi, will be used to distribute replacement wind-turbine parts and solar technology components and is located near a FedEx hub facility, which GE claims will help speed up distributions.
At 19,777m2, the centre is more than three times larger than GE’s previous logistics operation at DeSoto County.
The centre will also produce customer-specific kits that include multiple parts for each service activity, which GE claims will increase productivity by ensuring that all of the parts required for the project are packaged together.
It will provide and maintain specialised tooling for GE’s field services team.
