Scotland launches offshore 'task force'

UK: A taskforce to help offshore wind developers progress more quickly through the licensing and consenting system in Scotland has been launched by Scottish energy minister Fergus Ewing.

The new group will help developers provide good applications and speed up the application process It will also monitor environmental impact of projects and ensure better sharing of data.

Ewing, who will chair the taskforce, said: "The renewables taskforce aims to help streamline the process and help offshore energy developers produce sympathetic and well-conceived applications."

He added : " This should not be done at the expense of the concerns of communities. I want to help companies take local viewpoints and concerns into account and satisfy them, as well as meeting the technical requirements of the planning system quickly and thoroughly."
