Vestas among top R&D firms in Europe

EUROPE: Danish wind power manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems has been ranked in the top 100 companies investing in industrial research and development during 2010.

The company gained 62nd spot in the list, released by the European Commission, after investing €358 million during the year.?

Vestas’ figure was up 49.8 per cent on the previous year, the fourth highest increase of the top 100 companies.?

A further two wind companies appeared in the top 400 firms.?

LM Wind Power appeared at 377 in the list, with an investment of €34.6 million, up 30.7 per cent on 2009.?

German firm Nordex came in at 394, after increasing investment by 13.4 per cent to €31.93 million.?

Wind turbine gearbox manufacturer Hansen Transmissions International appeared at 655 on the list, after investing 12.9 million during the year.
