EDF adds to Turkish wind energy portfolio

TURKEY: EDF Energie Nouvelles has announced plans to build a 30MW wind farm on the west coast of Turkey.

The Seyitali wind farm will be located on the west coast of the Aegean sea in the province of Izmir. It will use 15 Enercon 2MW turbines.

The project will be developed by EDF subsidiary Polat Enerji and the Adnan Polat Group in the 50/50 deal.

EDF has been focusing its resources on Turkey in recent years. Currently, it has an installed capacity of 158MW and 205MW under construction.

EDF entered the Turkish wind-power market with the purchase of a 50% stake in Polat Enerji for an undisclosed sum. Polat Enerji, which also develops wind projects, owned a half-share of two operating plant, 14.9 MW at Burgaz and 30.4 MW at Sayalar, on the Aegean coast.
