Vestas wins 26MW Italian deal

ITALY: Vestas has been handed a contract for 26MW from Sea Spa for a wind project in Apulia, southern Italy.

The order is for 13 V90 2MW turbines to go to the Lucera wind farm. Delivery is set to begin in the first half of 2012 with commissioning set for the third quarter.

Sea Spa is a subsidiary of the Swiss utility Repower.

Vestas manufactures blades and nacelles at its Italian plant at Taranto. The company has supplied 2,563MW in the country.

According to July’s Windicator, Italy has a wind energy capacity of 6,084MW.
