The 48.5MW wind farm, owned by NZ Windfarms, is the first to use New Zealand manufactured Windflow turbines. The Windflow 500 is a two-bladed turbine with a 32-metre blade diameter and is designed for high wind-speed conditions.
The wind farm is located on the Tararua Ranges near Palmerston North, on the north island of New Zealand.
The companies have since entered into an agreement to restructure the operations and maintenance (O&M) arrangements for the wind farm.
NZ Windfarms has acquired a stock of strategic spares for its fleet of 97 WF500 turbines from Windflow.
Windflow has also established a subsidiary service company, Te Rere Hau Services, to provide O&M support services at the wind farm.
According to July's Windicator, New Zealand increased its capacity by 20% over 2011 to total 607MW.
