Dong said it is currently recruiting a replacement for Bergh-Hansen who has been with Dong since January 2006.
Bergh-Hansen has headed up Dong’s renewables division during the recent expansion of its offshore remit, including the completion of the 173MW Gunfleet Sands project in North Sea.
However, he was also at the company when its surprised many industry observers by failing to acquire one of the UK's licenses to develop part of its 33GW Round 3 offshore plan.
Speaking about the Bergh-Hansen’s decision Dong CEO Anders Eldrup said: "Bergh-Hansen has played a pivotal role in Dong\'s transition to far greener energy generation."
