The process is set to be completed by the first half of 2012. This week, it was revealed at an NEB-sponsored seminar in Jiangsu province that the overall capacity will be 1.5-2GW.

According to China's 12th 'Five-year Plan' for energy and renewable energy development, which is under preparation, China aims to have 5GW of offshore wind farms by 2015.

After 2015, China aims to enter the international offshore supply market.

By 2020, China will have 30GW offshore wind installed. It is estimated China has about 200GW of offshore resource.

In June 2010, China finished constructing a 100MW pilot offshore wind farm in east China's Shanghai city. It is the only offshore wind farm outside Europe.
