WindMade appoints CEO

WORLDWIDE: WindMade, the consumer standard designed to show products have been made using wind energy, has appointed its first CEO.

WIndMade was launched in January by companies and organizations including Vestas, GWEC and the Lego group.

Former International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO) director general Henrik Kuffner has been appointed to the chairman role.

WindMade said the details of the scheme are still under development although the basic structure is in place. In principle, a company will need to invest in wind projects if it wants to use the WindMade logo on its products or communications.

The standard’s details are set to be unveiled for consultation on June 15, in New York.

GWEC secretary general Steve Sawyer said: "Henrik brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge in the labeling field, and his broad background in international marketing and global markets make him the perfect candidate for this role."
