The order consists of 24 V80-2.0MW turbine, which will be installed in Zhongmen, Putian County, southeast China’s coastal province of Fujian.
This order is signed in continuation of the 36MW order, which was signed between Longyuan and Vestas in 2010.
Longyuan and Vestas have cooperated since 2005. The joint efforts have resulted in more than 500MW wind projects to date, said Vestas. They consist of more than 360 turbines covering kW and MW class turbines.
Longyuan is one of Vestas’ largest customers in China.
Xie Changjun, CEO of Longyuan, said "We have chosen Vestas’ V80 turbines, because we are confident in its performances. It allows us to reduce the need for maintenance and replacement of components, which means that we can reduce our stock of spare parts."
The order includes supply of wind turbines, installation and commissioning and a service and maintenance agreement. Delivery is scheduled to take place in the third quarter of 2011.
In late 2010, Vestas opened a regional sales office in Fuzhou, the provincial capital of Fujian, to be able to respond faster to customers’ needs in the region, said Jens Tommerup, President of Vestas China.
