Vestas to supply 252MW for German offshore project

GERMANY: Vestas will supply wind turbines to developer PNE Wind for a 252MW offshore project in Germany.

Vestas will supply 84 V112 3MW turbines for the Gode Wind 2 project in the North Sea, 33 kilometres north of the island of Nordeney off the coast of Germany.

PNE expects to begin construction on the project in 2011 or 2012. It will be the company’s first offshore wind farm to be completed.

The deal comes as Vestas seeks to improve its offshore offering with a number of initiatives.

Earlier this month, it signed up to provide a V80-2MW turbine to EDP Group and Principle Power’s WindPlus floating wind project off the Portuguese coast.

Also, on 30 March, Vestas is planning to unveil a 6MW offshore turbine currently under development.
