The project would be near the town of Rugby, 220km south west of Sydney. It will have approximately 90 wind turbines.
The turbines will need to be about 3.2MW if the project is built to full capacity. As Suzlon's largest turbine is the S88-2.1MW, sources close to the project said it is likely to use sister company Repower's 3.2M114 or 3.4M104 product.
Suzlon and development company Windlab have submitted the proposal, expected to cost $390 million, to the New South Wales planning department.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2013, with the wind farm to begin operating in 2014.
Suzlon is the leading wind turbine supplier to Australia, with contracts to supply 750MW around the country.
