Skykon acquired the tower factory in March last year along with a £2.4 million expansion grant from the Scottish government.
A new company, Welcon, was formed to handle what was Scotland’s only wind manufacturing plant. It is located in Kintyre, a peninsula of west Scotland.
Vestas announced its intention to pull out of manufacturing in Scotland in August 2008.
These are difficult times for Skykon. In October last year, the company announced it was suspending payments to creditors.
Commenting on the move CEO Jens Pedersen said: "The wind turbine industry is project based and very cyclical, and it is currently being affected by a number of negative factors in the wake of the financial crisis.
"These effects have also impacted Skykon to the effect that we are in a very cash-strapped situation."
