The Chinese wind turbine manufacturer will provide 34 units of 1.5MW direct-drive turbines to the Adama wind farm in central Ethiopia.
It will supply the turbines in three batches from March to June this year. The deal also includes a five-year maintenance contract.
The Adama wind farm, located 95km to the southwest of Addis Ababa, will be the first in Ethiopia to be completed.
It is Goldwind’s second export deal in recent weeks. Last month, the manufacturer announced it had purchased the 106.5MW Shady Oaks project in Illinois.
The Chinese wind industry recently launched an investigation into the cause of quality problems that have caused turbine damage.
