Vestas wins 25.5MW Cape Verde deal

WEST AFRICA: Vestas has won a contract to supply 25.5MW for a wind project in Cape Verde group of islands.

Vestas will supply wind turbines consisting of 30 V52-850 kW. The project is expected to come online in third quarter of 2011.

The order has been placed by Cabeólica SA, a public-private partnership (PPP) headed up by the government of Cape Verde and the state-owned utility company, Electra.

Other partners include developer InfraCo, Africa Finance Corporation, and Finnfund, a Finish development finance company.

It is the first wind project in the region to be developed under a public-private partnership scheme.
