Projects announced

US: Pathfinder Renewable Energy LLC is planning to construct a 2,100 MW wind farm in southeast Wyoming.

CANADA: SP Development Limited Partnership, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sprott Power Corp. is seeking provincial government approval to develop a 25.2 MW wind farm near Hampton in Annapolis County.

AUSTRALIA: Synergy Wind has met with planning officials over plans to build 15 wind turbines on a farm at St Clair, near Wonthaggi in Victoria.

PERU: Peru is to launch three wind power projects in 2012, with a total capacity of 120MW, as part of the government’s new drive to seek alternative sources of energy.

VENEZUELA: Venezuela has announced its plan to build 1500 MW of installed wind capacity within the next five years.

UK: Carbon Free Developments is to hold a second public exhibition of its plans for turbines in countryside south of Inverness, Scotland.

US: BNE Energy has begun the process of acquiring planning permission for a six turbine wind farm located on land at Colebrook near the Norfolk and Winsted town lines in Connecticut.

US: Kaheawa Wind Power II’s draft plan and environmental assessment are available for public review and comment for 30 days.

IRELAND: A rare bird known as the Hen Harrier, has prevented the approval of Bord Gais's €50m Keelderry wind farm in Co Galway.

UK: RidgeWind is re-submitting its plans for the seven-turbine Flixborough Grange wind farm located near Burton-Upon-Stather in Lincolnshire.

 

Project supply contracts

AUSTRALIA: Keppel Prince Engineering has won a $27 million contract to build 80 of the Macarthur wind farm’s 140 towers.

GERMANY, POLAND, US: Woodward has signed an agreement with REpower Systems AG in Germany to provide wind power converters to REpower over the next few years.

UK: The projects division of Balfour Beatty has won a £1.1 million electrical infrastructure contract for the Novar Two wind farm located on the Novar Estate in Ross-shire, Scotland.

CANADA: Capital Power Corporation has chosen Mortenson Canada Corporation to construct its Quality wind project, which is located ten km northeast of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia.

UK: Midlothian community offered chance to invest in wind farm A rural community in the Midlothian region of Scotland is being offered the chance to invest in a new 12 MW wind farm.

US: Voters in Savoy, Massachusetts, have opted to allow financial negotiations to start between their town and Minuteman Wind LLC over a proposed wind farm on West Hill.
