Nordex wins 60MW order for Turkey

TURKEY: The German turbine manufacturer Nordex has secured two contracts with a combined capacity of 60MW to be installed at two sites in western Turkey.

The deal is for 24, Nordex 2.5MW turbines. Eighteen are destined for a 45MW project near Akhisar in the rovince of Manisa. Nordex will install them on a turnkey basis for Karesi Enerji, a subsidiary of the Turkish transformer manufacturer Best.

Completion is scheduled for mid-2011. The plant will generate an estimated 170GW a year thanks to very good wind conditions and a capacity factor of around 42%, according to Nordex.

Nordex will also supply six turbines next summer as an extension to Dost Enerji's 42.5MW Yuntdag plant near Aliaga, north of Izmir. They will join the original 17 Nordex turbines commissioned early 2008, which marked Nordex's entry into the Turkish market.
