Wind Wire: Construction begins on Arganil project

PORTUGAL

The Ventinveste consortium, headed by Galp and Martifer, announced last month that it will begin immediate construction of the Vale Grande wind farm in Arganil. The 10MW project requires an investment of EUR16 million, including network connection, and will be implemented after the consortium closes a financing contract with Banco Espirito Santo. The wind turbines will be almost entirely produced in Portugal: the blades and gearboxes will come from Repower's factory in Oliveira de Frades, the towers will be supplied by Martifer, and the converters, transformers and generators by electronics group Efacec. Ventinveste, which obtained licences for a total wind capacity of 400MW, is still awaiting authorisation for its wind power projects in Douro Sul and Sao Bento.
