The contract, which covered 1,520MW of facilities, including biomass and hydro was awarded through Brazil’s National Electric Energy Agency.
IMPSA said that the wind farms will begin producing energy by 1 January 2013.
At a wind power conference in Brazil this week, Brazil’s minister for mines and energy, Marcio Zimmermann, said his country has already built or approved 5,300MW of wind facilities, which was originally a target for 2030.
