Brazilian firm wins Norwin wind turbine contract

BRAZIL: Brazilian manufacturer Tecnometal has signed an agreement to produce wind burbines for the South and Central American markets.

The company signed a 10-year deal with Danish wind turbine company Norwin A/S covering sales, production and installation.

The agreement was finalized after the Danish firm, in conjunction with the Confederation of Danish Insustry, searched for suitable Brazilian partners.

The Brazilian company Tecnometal is based in the city of Belo Horizonte in the state Minas Gerais and has 1200 employees.

Norwin executive director, Ole Sangil, said: "Having great expertise within production, we expect to get started soon and to obtain high quality supplies from our Brazilian partner."

He said the firm would focus on manufacturing mid-sized turbines, between 100KW and 1MW, to meet a demand that is unmet by larger wind turbine manufactuers.

Norwin A/S was founded in 1992 and existing license agreements in India, China and USA.
