Pattern signs Puerto Rico PPA for 75MW wind farm

PUERTO RICO: Wind developer Pattern Energy has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Company (PREPA) for the upcoming 75MW Santa Isabel project.

The Santa Isabel wind farm is in development and expected to begin producing electricity in late 2011. It is located on the wind-rich southern end of the territory will become the largest wind energy project in Puerto Rico.

Speaking about the deal Mike Garland, CEO of Pattern Energy said: "The Pattern Santa Isabel wind project will be a premier project that will harness the winds on the Southern side of Puerto Rico, which are consistent during the peak hours of energy consumption."

Other Pattern Energy projects under construction include the 138MW St Joesph wind farm in Manitoba, Canada and the 101.2MW Hatchet Ridge development in northern California.
