Longyuan sets out ambitious capacity plans

CHINA: China Longyuan Power Group, the largest wind farm operator in Asia and the fifth largest in the world, is planning to boost its wind turbine installed capacity by an extra 2GW.

Longyuan's plans include the the 26MW Dashentang Wind Farm that is being built near North China's harbor city Tianjin

The objective was disclosed by Longyuan at its recent annual shareholder's meeting in Hong Kong.

If Longyuan achieves its aims it will have a total of 6.5GW installed capacity and generate more than 10 billion kWh wind power by the end of 2010.

In 2009, Longyuan put 41 wind farms into operation, adding 2GW installed capacity.

By the end of 2009, Longyuan had a total of 4.5GW installed wind capacity. In the same year, Longyuan generated 6.211 billion kWh wind power, up 69.9 percent over the previous year.
