Wind Wire: Northern Ireland - Green light for 14MW project
Northern Irish renewable energy company Gaelectric has received approval to build a 14MW wind farm at Carn Hill, near Knockagh in County Antrim. Planning permission for the project means that construction can begin on the site later this year. The company says the wind farm will comprise six wind turbines and generate sufficient electricity for around 8,200 homes. Carn Hill is one of a number of wind projects planned by Gaelectric throughout the country. The company is awaiting further planning decisions on schemes with combined capacity of 130MW.
